Taaffeite…One of the rarest gemstones on earth:

If you have never heard about taaffeite before it’s probably because it is considered a million times rarer than diamond. Taaffeite is an extremely rare gem, with only a handful of these precious stones ever being found. It is named after the Irish gemmologist, Richard Taaffe, who came across the stone while sorting out a batch of gemstones in a jeweller’s shop in Dublin in 1945. Taaffeite is known to only be found in two locations in the world, Tanzania and Sri Lanka. It’s colour is usually a lilac-mauve colour, but can also appear as a brownish red, pink, purple or blueish green. Taaffeite’s rarity and unique colouring make it one of the most sought-after gems in the world.
