The Auction Process
O’Reilly’s Auction Rooms conduct monthly auctions in our premises at 126 Francis Street, Dublin 8. Established in 1948, we auction a wide range of antique and modern jewellery, diamond and gemstone rings, bracelets, watches, gold, silver, coins and collectibles. There are over 500 items at each auction and these can be viewed on our premises in person beforehand and illustrated with an online catalogue at www.oreillysfineart.com. Please note that while we auction items on your behalf we do not buy them.
Appointments for Valuation
Please phone us on +353 (0)1 453 0311 about putting your items forward for auction. We can arrange for you to make an appointment to meet one of our valuers. Then, if the items are suitable for auction, we can agree guide prices, reserves and our terms of sale. There is usually a 4/5 week deadline for the monthly auction. If you cannot visit our premises we may be able to make alternative arrangements
We only charge you if the item sells. The fee to the vendor is a total of 20% (incl. 21% VAT) of the hammer price. This fee includes all photography, insurance, cataloguing, inclusion in our on-line catalogue – but not any pre-agreed charges for cleaning or repairs.
Payment will be issued via cheque and this will be posted out to the vendors 4/5 weeks after the auction. The amount paid is the hammer price less the vendor’s commission fee of 20% (incl. 21% VAT).
If an item does not sell the vendor is responsible for collecting it. Please bring your receipt docket with you and also discharge any pre-agreed fees for cleaning or repairs. There may also be the opportunity of resubmitting your item in a subsequent auction – perhaps with a lower reserve.
