Spotlight on a Designer: David Morris

David Morris is a bespoke British Jeweller who has designed jewellery for various Royal clients, James Bond films and designed the Miss World Crown.

He completed his apprenticeship in Hatton Garden and opened his first store in the London district famous for jewellery and gem - stones in 1962, he quickly became well renowned when he and his design partner successively claimed the 9th and 10th De Beers Diamonds International Awards held annually in New York, in 1963 and 1964.

He moved to the upmarket Mayfair in 1969 and then to New Bond Street in 1996 where his flagship store remains and has the only remaining jewellery workshop on New Bond Street.

Some of his pieces have been selected for display in the permanent collection at The Victoria & Albert Museum in London and he is known for using large and high quality stones in his pieces.

The company is still family owned and his son Jeremy is now principal designer and director.

We are excited to be offering a David Morris ring for sale that has not been on the market since it was originally sold to the vendor’s grandmother in London in the 1970’s, the design is indicative of the period where yellow gold became popular and diamonds were often seen mixed with semi – precious materials and forms were softer and more rounded. The rope edge is also something seen in designs of this period. It is beautifully crafted sporting a 4.00 carat marquise cut diamond within a gold and onyx border. It bears the DM stamp for David Morris and a hallmark for London 1975. The sale estimate is €58,000 – 65,000.
