Spotlight on an Artist – Rudolf Heltzel

10/06/2022     Jewellery & Gems

German-born, Rudolf, came to Ireland in the 1960s as part of an international group of Artisans invited to re – vitalise craft and design in Ireland. Unlike may of his contemporaries, he stayed and made Ireland his home.

He became an influential figure in Irish design, setting up a studio and jewellery shop in Kilkenny City, he also taught Goldsmithing at the Kilkenny Design Centre.

His designs are timeless and were not trend driven, his sculptural pendants have a timeless aesthetic appreciated by women of all ages and styles. His pieces have an almost mathematical quality, emanating a beautiful harmony between gold, silver and platinum and carefully chosen gemstones.

Rudolf Heltzel died in 2020 but the legacy of this great influence in Irish design lives on in his pieces, one of which we are offering for sale in our June 22nd Auction
