Three stone diamond rings or trilogy diamond rings are a design classic and one of the most sought-after styles in O’Reilly’s alongside the diamond solitaire - but if you don’t want your diamond to be lonely the three stone is for you! They are popular as engagement rings, secondary rings or just a beautiful sparkly diamond rings in their own right. 

The Georgian era witnessed the birth of the three stone engagement ring, but it's popularity surged during the Victorian and Art Deco eras, continuing into the Mid Century.  It's popularity continues today. In its infancy, the centre gemstone was often a European cut diamond, however beginning in the Art Deco era more colour was utilized with sapphires, emerald and rubies as the focal point along with old European or mine cut diamonds as the side.

De Beers first marketed the three stone as an engagement ring to suggest that the trilogy of diamond represents the couple’s present, future and past, the centre diamond representing the present and the side diamonds representing the future and the past. Other symbolism suggests they can also represent the holy trinity, family (father, mother and child) or friendship love and fidelity.

Recently Megan Markle’s Three Stone Diamond engagement ring has been receiving a lot of attention, other celebrities sporting the design are Beyoncé & Taylor hill
